2018 Teachers Financial Literacy Summer Institute Returns to Champlain College

Free, 3-Credit Graduate Course open to VT, NH, NY, MA and ME Educators

Burlington, VT (03/22/2018) — A three-credit graduate course to teach high school and middle school teachers how to bring Financial Literacy education into the classroom is being offered June 25 -29, 2018 by the Center for Financial Literacy at Champlain College in Burlington, Vt.

Teachers who complete the training will have the confidence, skills and curriculum tools to successfully bring financial literacy topics into their classrooms. The program is open to teachers from Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Massachusetts and Maine. Accepted educators will receive a 100% scholarship (which includes room and board if from more than 40 miles away from Burlington.)

A generous grant has allowed the Center for Financial Literacy at Champlain College to relaunch this program in 2017. The Center's 2011-2013 and 2017 Sumer Institutes have already trained 128 educators. "Our programming has been recognized by the White House, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the FDIC, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and by President Obama's Advisory Council on Financial Capability," said John Pelletier, director of the CFL.

The Summer Institute has also been the subject of two studies showing the impact of the instruction (Research Report and Prepped for Success). On-line applications will be accepted until May 11, 2018. There are only 40 scholarships available in 2018.
