Joshua Miller Wins Champlain College Elevator Pitch Competition

2013 Mar 21

Joshua Miller of Lewiston, NY has won First place in the Entrepreneurs category for Champlain College's Sixth Annual Elevator Pitch competition.

In February Miller, a Management of Creative Media major at Champlain College competed with 56 other students to pitch an original and creative idea to Burlington area business people who would then decide on a first, second, and third place winner in three different categories. The categories were non-profit/ social advocacy, job/internship seekers, and entrepreneurs.

Students like Miller were able to learn a valuable life skill by participating in the competition to present a clear and concise business idea to the judges in 90 seconds or less. The students were judged on their content and delivery by a panel of local business people, and the winners of each category were awarded $500. Second and third-place prizes of $300 and $100 were also provided by KeyBank.

Champlain College's Bring Your Own Business (BYOBiz) program director Bob Bloch said "The Sixth Annual Elevator Pitch Finalists were arguably one of the best ever. The judges and organizers were dazzled by the creativity, resourcefulness, poise and quite frankly, the charm of this year's finalists."
