Ethan Farmer Receives Peer Advisor Leadership Award

2014 Jul 10

Ethan Farmer, a Computer Networking and Information Security major from East Fairfield, VT recieved the "Challenge the Process" award at the annual Peer Advisor Leadership Awards ceremony. This award exemplifies a Peer Advisor who seeks new opportunities to challenge the status quo. They innovate, experiment, and explore ways to improve workshops and the PA/mentee relationship. They are always willing to learn and grow and are eager to meet whatever challenges may confront them.

Peer Advisors (PA's) have a two part job at Champlain College, they are assigned a group of first-year students whom they help navigate through their first year LEAD requirements, provide social programs in the residence hall, and make a point to check in with their advisees on a regular basis. The second piece of the Peer Advisor's job is to facilitate or support LEAD events.

LEAD is the third dimension of Champlain's Integrated Education, the required four-year Student Life program, that addresses engaged citizenship, lifelong career management and financial sophistication.

Since 1878, Champlain College has provided career-focused education to students from its hilltop campus in Burlington, VT.
